in Geneva the same condemnation of black tactics from the mainstream /rightwing press only in Irl the condemnation comes from the so called people . here 2 peices written by pink'n'silver bloc and black bloc shows the commitment to each other against the state's repression at that time and all of you on saturdays demo should take pride in what happened even if you dont like some tactics Hey we are all in this together and should respect each others ways of doing things they are long but really worth reading read full story / add a comment

I have been thinking about the mayday protest for a while now, particularly the confrontation with the gardai. Yet while I can think of plenty of negative results of the black bloc's decision to try force their way through the police lines, I cant think of ONE good thing that came from it. Can anyone out there give me one reason why the day's events would have done less good if the anarchists HADN'T done that? In other words, what was the point? Can anyone give me one good result? And please, I'm not looking to start an argument -I was there too getting soaked with the watercannon, and I'm sure some of the gardai were heavy handed, AND i've nothing against anarchism but that's not the point. How in god's name did this decision contribute to the various causes we were protesting about more than it hindered them? read full story / add a comment

In the last few months, several students have been attacked and beaten by undercover infiltrators for trying to have a voice in the university councils and the center of activism at UNAM - Okupa Che Guevara - is under threat of eviction. The current situation with Pavel (see below) has had very little coverage outside of the university and has continued to be declared by the media as a suicide. Pavel was very active and participated in a lot of events at Che and was a dedicated volunteer of Smaliyel. read full story / add a comment

Someone above (Eyewitness Report Ashtown gate Thread) said 'If Indymedia want to show that it is a legitimate unbiased news coverage provider, perhaps it should try to get the definitive story on the Ban Garda that was injured, just a suggestion.' OK - I rang the Garda press office at 9 a.m. to inquire after garda injuries. I was told that no statement was ready but that they could confirm that at least one Garda had been injured and brought to Blanchardstown hospital. they were released after examination. they would not confirm that it was a head injury, that it was caused by a missile or even that it was a Ban Garda.(all of which I had heard and asked them to confirm). I was told that there may be a statement later in the day. I then went out and bought the papers where I read a lot more detail (if the Guards gave out different information to other media outlets then we can not really be blamed on this). Since what I had was out of date and didn't add much I didn't publish the read full story / add a comment

For the 4 th year running the Cork crew have reclaimed the footpath after the traditonal Mayday march .The sound system played till midnight ,the Gardai kept a very low profile , the feeling was that they were under strenght because of the Bring the noise in Dublin .All went well hope to it happen again next year read full story / add a comment |
