A New Yorker who was a witness at the scene of the World Trade Centre bombing in 1993 has filed documentation in the Supreme Court that the Ministry for Justice here suppressed evidence in her claim for asylum. She is requesting that activists, members of the public or people interested in immigration/asylum issues come to her Supreme Court appeal on Friday April 11, at 11 am at the Four Courts, Dublin (I assume).

The Action on Suicide alliance has arranged for a Remembrance Procession which will be held in Dublin on Wed April 23rd. The Procession is for bereaved families, friends, communities and associated groups, organisations and individuals that havelost loved ones and friends through suicide. The Procession will commence at 1pm at the Garden of Remembrance Parnell Square and proceed through Dublin City Centre to arrive at the Dail at 2pm where the Mandate will again be handed into Government.

The purpose of this meeting is to publicly debate the global development aspects of the Lisbon Treaty and its potential impact on Europe’s relationship with countries of the Global South. Speakers are drawn from a wide range of perspectives on the treaty and specific overviews and analysis will be presented on the trade, military and aid policy aspects of the treaty.

The meeting is organised by active members of the global development sector in Ireland who are interested in promoting increased understanding and debate on the global dimensions of the treaty.

Racists desecrated 148 graves in the Muslim section of a military cemetery in Lille France, last Sunday daubing anti-Islamic graffiti and swastikas on graves , and hanging a pig's head on one of the headstones. The widely condemned hate crime comes at a time of tension for Muslim communities throughout Europe , occurring in the same week that Deniz Ozgur Uzun ,a 17-year-old Muslim high school student , was beaten to death by Islamophobes in Copenhagen . read full story / add a comment

174 horses have died on British race tracks in one year. Three deaths at the latest "Grand" National Race. This does not include those killed away from the racing arena. It is not clear how many Irish horses are killed every year. read full story / add a comment
