An contributor to the guestbook of the English Nazi group Combat 18 (link removed)has called on people to shoot Bertie Ahern (described as "bertie allsorts" in the message). The full message by the man, calling himself david, is as follows (link removed): Name: david Web address: www.nsrus.com Sent: 13:28 GMT on 17 July shoot bertie allsorts the nigger lover. The message was posted three days after the attempted assassination of French President Jacques Chirac. "david" links to an Irish rascist website (link removed) which strangely sees Arthur Griffith and Eoin O'Duffy in the same light as well as providing a photo of Jean Marie Le Pen. For reasons of freedom of speech, (link removed )shouldn't be shut down. However "david" is going too far in calling for the shooting of Bertie Ahern, whatever you make think of his Machiavellian politics. read full story / add a comment

"There were no NGOs present, no environmentalists, no anarchists. The organisation of the ESF is down to Europe?s revolutionary organisations - in the main Italy?s Rifondazione Comunista. The only non-revolutionary organisations of any kind were the Greek trade union organisation, GSEE, and Attac, which mainly campaigns for the introduction of the Tobin tax on financial transactions. However, in most European countries Attac has been set up and dominated by revolutionary organisations and has steadily moved to the left" read full story / add a comment

As anger rises over benchmarking in Ireland, unions return centre stage in Britain with national strike day of action. Wednesday 17 July is set to see the biggest one day strike in Britain for many years. Over one million local government workers in Unison, GMB, and T&G are set to strike over low pay, and in London additionally over London weighting. ISTC members have been called out on the same day over pensions. Tube workers in London will strike from 8pm on Wednesday against tube privatisation. In South East London some NUT members have voted not to cross picket lines (thereby taking unlawful secondary action). read full story / add a comment
