dublin / arts and media / event notice Friday March 20, 2009 10:26 by Ciara Mc Mahon
The Forever Young Choir and Ciara Mc Mahon are pleased to present Mutual:Esteem, a site specific collaborative event at SIN nightclub, Temple Bar. The lunchtime event follows a period of research and interchange between the Dublin based artist and The Forever Young Choir, a mixed choral group from County Clare. Through an immersive experience, the work provocatively contrasts cultural idioms – rural folk culture and uber trendy nightclubing – creating a playful work questioning pedestrian responses to popular cultural spaces. Using SIN's atmospheric environment the choir will perform such long standing hits as 'Lillie Marleen' and 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot'. read full story / add a comment

This information from a reliable source has yet to be confirmed in print but Youthreach pupils, teachers and co-ordinators are growing increasingly concerned that a VEC Education Officer from one of the county VECs is calling for their closure as a cost cutting exercise. More information is to follow but this threat is something that a lot of people ought to sit up and take seriously because of the knock-on consequences such a move is likely to have.
