A number of Irish language activists in Dublin have been intimidate and even arrested for dealing with Gardaí in Irish when stopped, these events became as serious as arresting Irish language activists for asserting their constitutional right to give their name and address in Irish to the Gardaí. The Irish language is the first language of this state and the public must not be intimidated or mistreated for maintaining or asserting that view. Shannon airport is being heavily used today by the US military to move troops to and from the Middle East. Between 9am and 10am there were three troop carriers, World Airways, ATA, and North American at the airport with over 500 troops on board, and likely to be carrying about 500 M-16 automatic rifles, and the same number of 9mm automatic pistols, and assorted munitions.
Military prisoners in shackles may also have been on board, as this is a regular practice by the US military.
Also at the airport was an executive jet, that has been reported as making frequent visits to RAF bases, N750JJ. Further investigation is called for, but this is unlikely to come from the Gardai, who have ignored the vast majority of complaints, or requests for searches of US aircraft, made to them so far.
Nevertheless, I made the statement of complaint and request for aircraft to be searched which is included below.

You are sitting in an apartment one flight of stairs above the scene of a
'Domestic Violence' incident. You are aware of the woman who lives in the apartment below and that she has a small child who trick or treated you at Halloween.
Now you are witnessing the sounds of an attack on that woman.

Do you: a) Go down the flight of stairs and ask if she needs help- Which she obviously does.
b) tell yourself, that the 'dynamic' between two lovers is something one
should not interfere in.
c) Call the authorities.
d). hope she is ok and mention in passing (the next day) that you
heard something, did not wish to intervene and chuck the
big-eyed two-year old under the chin.

The manouverings of the SWP in Scotland are a significant factor in the general chaos within the Scottish Socialist Party. The manner in which this party are currently operating in Scotland should act as a warning to those on the Left in Ireland who believe that that party has anything to offer the struggle for socialism here. read full story / add a comment

Crisis in the health service: a legacy of Charlie Haughey

Before I begin I must say I hate Bush and I hate this whole nihilistic Iraq war.
The Americans, I think we can all agree are in a quagmire in Iraq.
The country is ravaged by daily car bombings which have killed thousands of innocent civilians since 2003 while Sunni, Shia and Kurdish areas are at each others throats. Every day dozens of tortured and mutilated bodies have arrived at Iraqi hospitals after being dumped in the streets.
The country is on the brink of all out tribal and sectarian civil war. read full story / add a comment

Thank you for your article (link below) on Howard and particularly for highlighting his disregard for Australian youth. I am appalled by his attitude to young Australians. Australia has one of the highest youth suicide rates in the developed world and little wonder; the short-term interests of corporate profit, crushing taxation laws and the introduction of ‘guest workers’ have stolen the future from the majority of our youth. Our youth now experience ever-increasing difficulty obtaining work skills needed for their survival. read full story / add a comment
