FÁILTÍONN NA GAEIL ÓGA ROIMH ATHRUITHE AR AN ORDÚ OIDEACHAIS

D’fháiltigh Na Gaeil Óga i mBéal Feirste roimh an scéal gur chuir Rialtas na Breataine ‘an t-Ordú Oideachais (Tuaisceart Éireann)’ os comhair a bparlaiminte agus na hathruithe a d’éiligh an t-óg-eagras san áireamh sa dréacht.

De réir an chéad dréachta bheadh ar mhic léinn ag EochairChéim 4 teanga Eorpach amháin, ar theanga oifigiúil an Aontais Eorpaigh í, a roghnú agus bhí an Ghaeilge fágtha ar leataobh.

Arsa Ciarán Ó Brolcháin, rúnaí na nGael Óg sa chathair, “Tá muid an-sásta gur dheimhnigh Rialtas na Breataine na leasuithe a chur leis an dréacht. Bhí bagairt ann go mbeadh an Ghaeilge in áit na leathphingne i gcomparáid le teangacha nua-aimseartha eile na hEorpa agus daltaí a dhéanamh a roghanna d‘EochairChéim 4. Anois gur teanga oifigiúil de chuid an AE í an Ghaeilge, bhí orainn a bheith cinnte go gcosnófaí ár gcearta.

“Ba mhaith linn ár míle buíochas a ghabháil le gach aon duine a thug tacaíocht dúinn agus muid ag dul do fheachtas chun na leasuithe a bhaint amach, le gach duine a shínigh an achainí s‘againn agus na heagraíochta Gaeilge agus pobail a thacaigh linn. Tá bua bainte amach againn inniu, ach caithfidh muid leanstan ar aghaidh le cinntiú go bhfuil an stádas cóir tugtha dár dteanga dúchais sa leagan deiridh.”
