To: President Barack Obama WE THE UNDERSIGNED petition you to speak out against the death penalty for Mumia Abu-Jamal, and all the men, women and children facing execution around the world. This ultimate form of punishment is unacceptable in a civilized society and undermines human dignity. (U.N. General Assembly, Moratorium on the Use of the Death Penalty, Resolution 62/149, Dec. 18, 2007; reaffirmed, Resolution 63/168, Dec. 18, 2008.) read full story / add a comment

Unless the muscle of the US and its government can be turned around and Obama starts listening to his emissary George Mitchell and to a lesser degree Ms Clinton there will be no real change either in Gaza , the border crossings or any hope of Israeli compliance with International Justice and humanity. Neither can any advancement towards a 2 state solution be even conceived until the Israelis agree to Jerusalem being the Capital City for both Israel and Palestine. read full story / add a comment

50 Primary Principals speak out against Independent Newspapers’ “Building for the Future” promotion.
national / education / press release Thursday January 14, 2010 09:25 by Mark C 2 comments (last - monday january 18, 2010 00:30)
“We the undersigned 50 Primary school principals condemn and refuse to partake in the Irish Independent’s “Building for the Future” scheme being launched this week. We abhor the quota of 20 tokens per pupil from Independent Newspapers required of all schools wishing to submit a project for this sponsored competition. Independent Newspapers while posturing as benefactors are, in reality, seeking to exploit schools, boost sales and make life uncomfortable for children whose parents do not buy the sponsors newspapers.
