The New York demonstrations are to be held on Wednesday 23 September and Thursday 24 September at 10 am, at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, First Ave. & 47th Street, Manhattan. Other actions are being planned for other cities, including London.

The High Court has granted an injunction restraining SIPTU and the Irish Congress of Trade Union from distributing flyers about or publishing the personal details of people who have continued to work during a strike at the Marine Terminal company in Dublin Port. Mr Justice Feeney ruled that workers were entitled to use strong language including the word 'scab' during protests outside the company's gates.

On September 19th there will be a protest outside the Canadian Embassy in Dublin to show support for Canadian Marc Emery. Marc is a well-known activist, Vancouver retail store owner, and editor of Cannabis Culture Magazine. He was raided by Canadian police and the US DEA on July 29th, 2005, and arrested for selling marijuana seeds over the Internet. read full story / add a comment

The Don't Extradite the Basques Campaign has welcomed the news this week that the petition against the extradition to Spain of Belfast-based Basque pro-independence activists Iñaki de Juana and Arturo Beñat Villanueva now has more than 1,000 signatories from Ireland, Britain, the Basque Country, Spain and around the world, including elected representatives, human rights campaigners, lawyers, academics and community leaders.
