This is an really interesting article written by Richard Moore for the Southeast Voice in Wexford. In it he asks what Ireland should do in these present times where it is clear huge changes are afoot in the global economy. I would highly recommend people to read the original in full for its insight.

Richard Moore has been writing about global issues for a number of years and has been attempting to truly understand how system works. A few years ago he wrote a book called: Escaping The Matrix and a host of other articles. In more recent times, he has begun to focus on grassroots organising and how to reform communities and democracy from the ground up. read full story / add a comment

It is everywhere. The talk of the bail out. And now the talk of the extra $140 billion they bribed the politicians to pass it. Meanwhile tens of millions of American workers are watching their savings, pensions, homes and jobs vanish before their eyes. The anger about the bail out prevented it being passed the first time. There has been a fundamental shift in consciousness in the US working class. It will not go back to having the same trust in the Republicans and the Democrats and the system. However a much greater shift could have taken place if the union leaders instead of trailing with their heads down after the Democrats and the bail out had taken an independent stand. read full story / add a comment

As the banking sector celebrates the government bailout the mainstream media have sought to capitalise on their readers formerly dormant anti-capitalist sentiment, with those journalists and editors that still retain an inkling of their activist youth revealing in the opportunity to indulge in some populist rhetoric, MediaBite takes a look at the media's performance over the boom years and asks whether the media, not just the bankers and developers, should be held to account for their part in bringing on this economic crisis. read full story / add a comment

We're looking for strong hi-res images from the Mayo struggle, to add to our 'Shell's Wild Lie' exhibition (http://www.artnotoil.org.uk/gallery/v/Shell/). Faces of those involved are good, but so are land/seascapes from the struggle etc.

Please write to [email protected] if you might be able to help.

Thanks,

Mark

PS. We'd love any other images to consider, Shell-related or beyond, for the main Art Not Oil gallery, and here's some info we've sent to artists asking them to respond to the production of the Shell-sponsored 'Oedipus' in London: read full story / add a comment
