Yesterday in Shannon District Court Judge Mangan returned a verdict of "guilty" (under his breath, while shuffling nervously through his papers) for the charge of criminal damage which I was facing because of the Shannon Airport USAF Hercules spray-painting action I did last September. I'm going to appeal his decision. read full story / add a comment

The Poll today in the Irish Times shows slippage in the support for this government and its leader. While Indymedia readers will not find this surprising, what I find puzzling is the marked absence of opinion polls about attitudes towards any forthcoming war on Iraq. read full story / add a comment

national / miscellaneous / news report Friday February 14, 2003 14:40 by CIE worker against the war   text 9 comments (last - friday february 14, 2003 22:29)
Just to confirm that many CIE workers will be participating in tomorrow's anti war demo in Dublin. Many of us (Myself included) will be walking off the job at 2pm tomorrow, so there will be some disruption to bus and rail services for a number of hours tomorrow afternoon. The level of disruption depends on the number of CIE workers who turn up tomorrow. Most bus and rail workers are strongly opposed to war against a war against Iraq under any circumstances, with or without any more UN resolutions. Of course there are some CIE workers, just like other workers who do support a war against Iraq, but they are definitely in the minority, certainly within CIE. We are also warning the management of any of the CIE companies - Dublin Bus, Irish Rail and Bus Eireann not to instigate any disciplinary action against any CIE workers who participate in tomorrow's read full story / add a comment

Gerry Adams today criticizes the Gombeen/comprador Dublin government for not speaking out against the impending war on Iraq. Adams cannot criticize the Anglo-American axis because he is their willing tool in destroying the republican movement and in eliminating the Irish resistance to imperialism. The Good Friday Agreement is the program of the Anglo-American empire to finally solve the Irish Question. And Adams, aided and abetted by the corrupt Fianna Fail govt., is the key player in this attempt to destroy over 200 yrs of Irish resistance to imperialism. Criticizing the foolish 'Bertie' for not 'speaking out'against the war is a very weak position. Clearly Adams is so beholden to the U.S./U.K. power structure that he is now incapable of taking a principled stand against imperial agression. He hopes that by asking 'Bertie' to speak out against the war that the republican grassroots will be assured of his anti-imperialism. Dream on. read full story / add a comment
