I know that I should not rise to bait like this but I can not help it, please others reply to this letter (check the link) too. The letter basically says that those who were battoned at the RTS deserved it for harassing the Gardai, it is from a "supposed" peaceful protester. read full story / add a comment

In case anyone thought it had stopped, here's more news for you. It's increasing. The civilian airports of Ireland are becoming US Air Bases (in contravention of Article 28 of the Irish Constitution - not that Bertie gives a hoot about our constitution). The latest change is an INCREASE in Military traffic. Photos should follow soon. read full story / add a comment

The following evidence including a video (see associated link to actual footage) showing Palestinians faking a funeral in Jenin needs to be read and digested by the many accusers of Israel who have written on this site. It is not enough for the truth to be told. It needs to be heard. It needs to be acknowledged. My close colleague came back into the office on Thursday afternoon, the end of our workweek, still in uniform with his M-16 and pistol on him. This was the day that the IDF left the Jenin refugee camp to reassemble in the area, returning to the status quo that existed before the Passover Eve Massacre, in which so many at the Park Hotel in Netanya were murdered by a suicide bomber. He was called up for emergency reserve duty (they call it an Order-8, or tzav shmona) and is the officer in charge of the military field infirmary, assigned to the reserve unit who lost the nine soldiers in that one incident last week. So what I'm passing on here was told directly to me, just hours after he left the Jenin area, while in Yokneam, 19 kilometers from Jenin (where we both work and he lives). I didn't record his read full story / add a comment

I'm an avid reader of the slate and enjoy its cut throat sarcasm along with filthy toilet humour! It would be really great in the circumstances to get a reply on indymedia from the author or the editor about the recent bullshit controversy over the 'smash capitalism' piece. There was a meeting today of the Garda Rep Ass. where P.J Stone said there was another side to the RTS protest that was not shown to the public and if it had been he said the public would understand that the Gardai acted "responsibly".He was asked what the other story was and in response Stone said there was a "car damaged", "Smoke bomb used", a car with a baby in it was "kicked" and other instances i.e.spray painting buildings. read full story / add a comment

According to the March issue of the Ecologist magazine (page 17), the Belgian company Indaver are preparing an Environmental Impact Assessment for the building of an incinerator in Ringsend that would handle over 500,000 tonnes of waste per year. This is the same company that has already got planning permission despite local opposition, for an incinerator in Duleek, in Co. Meath. Besides the well known pollution effects of incinerators, experience has shown in many other countries that they tend to put a brake on recycling efforts, largely because much of the material they burn is also recyclable. read full story / add a comment
