Former chief of staff of the IRA, Ruairi O Bradaigh, in an interview with the London Times said that history did not stop with the signing of the Stormont agreement. Militant republicanism is alive and well he said. O Bradaigh, President of Republican Sinn Fein, said the overwhelming lesson of history is that there has always been resistance. The interviewer concludes that O Bradaigh's refusal to compromise his republican beliefs, his immaculate republican credentials and his international contacts have given him 'a clout that is difficult for Gerry Adams to ignore' read full story / add a comment

The agendas of the so-called "peace movement" are pro-Communist and anti-American. Its organizers have worked with America's enemies in the past and are continuing to do so in the midst of this war. This is the very definition of a political "fifth column." Honest dissenters and Americans concerned about the future of their country should take a hard look at these protests and those who support them. The Poll today in the Irish Times shows slippage in the support for this government and its leader. While Indymedia readers will not find this surprising, what I find puzzling is the marked absence of opinion polls about attitudes towards any forthcoming war on Iraq. read full story / add a comment

national / miscellaneous / news report Friday February 14, 2003 14:40 by CIE worker against the war

Just to confirm that many CIE workers will be participating in tomorrow's anti war demo in Dublin. Many of us (Myself included) will be walking off the job at 2pm tomorrow, so there will be some disruption to bus and rail services for a number of hours tomorrow afternoon. Of course there are some CIE workers, just like other workers who do support a war against Iraq, but they are definitely in the minority, certainly within CIE. We are also warning the management of any of the CIE companies - Dublin Bus, Irish Rail and Bus Eireann not to instigate any disciplinary action against any CIE workers who participate in tomorrow's read full story / add a comment
