"Garda Inspector Ray McHugh revealed the gardai are being advised by police forces around the globe on how to beat the [May 1st]anarchist menace." - KEN MURRAY Sunday Mirror, March 21, 2004. I wonder is it possible that someone (!) who has the time to work with the Indymedia Collective Editorial Team could assign themselves the task of collecting the names and 'journalism' of outrageous anti-democratic no-research-necessary corporate-nonsense journalists for the purpose of inviting them to a debate in public on the theme of Journalism And Democracy. read full story / add a comment

Noam Chomsky has publicly given his backing to John Kerry for the US presidency. Chomsky, of course, prefers Nadar, but in an interview in the Guardian seems to advocate a vote for Kerry, presumbably because Nadar is not going to win and each vote for him is one less for Kerry, thus opening the way for a Bush victory. read full story / add a comment

Recently I put the Pentagon Report on the threat to the environment and life on earth as we know it. might lead to massive violence on the streets of Palestine Ariel Sharon chose today to public assassinate him in Gaza without so much as a trial. The question is why? And why was it sanctioned by Bush as it undoubtedly must have been? They could have picked up this man any time they wanted on the streets as there was little chance of him getting away on his wheelchair. Surely this barbaric execution is proof if it were required that Israel has no interest in peace and is again thumbing its' nose at the world. His assassination will reawaken memories for Irish people of the execution of James Connolly in a wheelchair and the war which led to independence from British tyranny that it sparked! I recall a similar discussion this time last year about the dimensions of the 15 February mobilisation —was there 80,000 or perhaps 200,000? I discovered yesterday that it is hard to be half-way accurate about such matters, much less definitive read full story / add a comment |
