I am posting a piece below on Patricks Day that I wrote a couple of years ago. It tries to give an idea of the contradiction between remembering and missing my home and at the same time having to seperate myself from the form that the celebration of March 17th takes in Chicago. read full story / add a comment

The October Fifth Association, a global network of 1968 civil rights' veterans and supporters, since the death of Capt. James J. Kelly, although acquitted in the Arms Trials of the early 1970s, is campaigning to clear his name of any wrong-doing. Co-accused, a former Stormont MLA, who quit Sinn Féin, John Kelly (no relation) and the Captain's widow Sheila, recently contacted the media to express their support. The civil rights' vets will launch an International petition on St. Patrick's Day via a CKJCampaign website, which can be located on www.captainkelly.org OR www.captkelly.org

The captain's widow, family members and friends have already viewed the website and signed the the international petition, which is accompanied by other features such as a 'Photo Gallery', and campaign press reports.

A press conference is scheduled to be held in a Derry hotel in the next 2-4 weeks. Further details from the CR Vets, via [email protected] read full story / add a comment

24-Hour CIE Strike by all SIPTU CIE members on Thursday March 18th affecting trains and buses nationwide. Not backed by the National Bus & Rail Union (NBRU), (Boo!), but still expected to result in complete closure of the Public Transport System, as NBRU members won't pass SIPTU pickets, and SIPTU are calling all their members in CIE (Maintainance, refuelers, cleaners, shunters and line track maintainance, as well as the drivers) out on strike on Saturday. read full story / add a comment
