Greece is the one member of the European Union to remain in mobilisation since the second world war. A state of war existed with Albania from 1940 to 1981. For the last 27 years and following the Turkish invasion and occupation of 33% of Cyprus we remain in a state of general mobilisation. read full story / add a comment

The following is the Reuters report on the latest developments at the Christian church occupied by Palestinian terrorists in Bethlehem. Israel should be commended for her restraint and respect for both the Christian faith and the lives of those within the church - Israel deserves criticism where criticism is due, but praise where appropriate is just and necessary. This is one of those cases. read full story / add a comment

Most of us probably feel that U.S. media is completely state-controlled and contains no worthwhile information. Mostly this is true, however there is at least one brave lone voice on the airwaves in the U.S. "Democracy Now!" hosted by Amy Goodman is carried on the Pacifica Network (an anti-war radio network founded decades ago by pacifist anarchists and communists). read full story / add a comment

On the morning of Wednesday 10 April, reports began to emerge from the Jenin refugee camp in the extreme north of the Israeli-occupied West Bank that its Palestinian defenders had run out of ammunition and were thus no longer able to resist the Israeli offensive that began on 2 April. While this appeared to put a conclusion to the most furious battle to be waged on Palestinian soil since 1948, subsequent developments indicated otherwise. As night fell, one of the camp's few remaining field commanders issued a dramatic, live appeal to the world through the Qatari Al-Jazeera television network, in which he stated that the Israeli military was summarily executing defenseless fighters as it advanced and was refusing to accept the surrender of those still alive. read full story / add a comment

This morning on my way into town I stopped to get some food. I stopped outside the Israeli embassy, where I was part of a small protest last night. I started eating my food on the wall in front of the tree. The police approached me and asked me what I was at, asked to search my bag, asked if I knew where I was etc, but were generally friendly. I voluntarily opened my bag and told them I was eating breakfast, and would then be writing a letter to the Israeli ambassador, and then leaving without climbing trees or anything. They were fine with that. The embassy wasn't as co-operative. read full story / add a comment
