Dreaming Drimnagh: ‘Who dreams does most’

This year’s theme is ‘Dreaming Drimnagh,’ in which we will look at what Drimnagh has been, is now, and dream what it might be in the future. Our festival logo designed by graphic artist Tom McDonald, is partly the shape of Drimnagh today, and partly a magic carpet to take us into realisable dreams of old and new spaces, renewing old connections and making new connections with each other through the festival events.

This is an approximate guide to what will be going on this coming week in Drimnagh, with the help of the many people who are getting involved to make this festival happen.

Dublin Sinn Féin Councillor Larry O’Toole has called on Dublin City Council to call in the Taxi Regulator and Unions to meet with the Transport Committee to discuss the growing problem of people refusing to use taxis with black drivers. Democracy Now is reporting that : "In his latest article in the New Yorker magazine, http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/10/08/071008fa_...=true investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reports there has been a significant increase in the tempo of planning for war with Iran inside the Bush administration. Hersh says the White House recently requested the Joint Chiefs of Staff redraw longstanding plans for a possible attack. Catalan independence news these days seems to be focussed on a prison sentance passed on a protester who burnt a photo of the King of Spain last September 13th whilst Juan Carlos Bourbo y Bourbo was in Girona to open the science park there. A crowd of protesters had attended the event as part of the wider "300 years" movement which aims to raise independence hopes on the anniversaries of the beginning and end of the war of Bourbon succession between 1707 and the 11th of September 1714. That of course was the war which saw the European alliance supporting the Catalans (& British by they way) lose to the Bourbon dynasty (& the Basques by the way) which still holds the crown today. & that was when they lost their powers to raise tax & sundry other privelages.

Yesterday a bomb was difused in the headquarters of the Catalan Green party ICV-EUA which is a sister party of the Spanish state's IU or reformed marxists (who are linked to the SWP by the way)
