RTE Radio 1 and 2FM are to be dropped from Sky's EPG following a row over coverage of the war in Iraq. Sky had already protested to RTÉ about their anti-war coverage, saying it is biased. Although they will be removed at midnight tonight, both RTÉ Radio 1 & 2FM will still be available via the 'Other Channels' menu. They consider RTE's coverage to be anti-war???!!! read full story / add a comment

At least two threads relating to Israel have been deleted from this site over the past 24 hours without any explanation. One on the supply of D9 buldozers and training to the US military, and the other on the murder of Rachel Corrie. Aren't we allowed to post about Israel and the Palestinians? Are only SWP vs SP trivia now acceptable for posting on this site? Have the rules for postings changed in the past 24 hrs? read full story / add a comment

Since the military action by the USA, UK and their allies began in Iraq on 20 March, a backlash against certain human rights has been witnessed around the world. These include: attacks on the rights to freedom of expression and assembly; excessive use of force by police against anti-war demonstrators; restriction of asylum rights. With the spotlight focused on the theatre of war, such abuses of human rights have been largely ignored. The following are just a few of many examples recorded by Amnesty International. Amnesty International urges all governments to respect the right of people to express peacefully their opinions, and to refrain from using the war in Iraq as a pretext for curtailing or abusing fundamental human rights. read full story / add a comment

A couple of us have got together and drawn up the pledge below, which calls on the workers in Shannon to refuse to co-operate with the re-fuelling of US military planes. The idea behind it is to try to get a large number of trade unionists to issue the call and also to pledge themselves to support any worker who might be disciplined for doing so. TUCAW has no existance beyond this petition and is not connected to any political party - it is simply one more contribution towards stopping the war. read full story / add a comment
