Very little by the look of it... The services in Kerry General are pathetic. The staffing levels are completely inadequate and its embarrassing to see the lack of dignity on show sometimes. Virtually all departments are completely under staffed and cant deliver the basics. It appears that budgets are more important than patients in this establishment. So much so that, staffing levels are more weighted towards the drugs invoices than the drugs themselves. read full story / add a comment

Under pressure from the US and other nuclear powers, Micheál Martin has agreed to a proposal allowing India - a non-signatory of the NPT - to engage in nuclear trade. This constitutes a shredding of Ireland's historic commitment to the NPT and shows that there is not a principle on earth on which our government isn't prepared to capitulate - presumably for the right price. read full story / add a comment

Trade unionists across all unions are today being urged to reject the proposed national pay agreement. Following a conference of over 70 activists and union shop stewards a campaign is now being launched for the biggest no vote. The conference was organised by a number of trade union activists from both the private and public sector and addressed by Jimmy Kelly, regional secretary of Unite, one of Ireland’s largest unions. Kelly stated that the deal was an “effective pay cut which does not address any of our unions concerns on pensions, union recognition, or low pay.” read full story / add a comment
