Frank McBrearty Jnr and Eamon McCann will speak at a meeting in Wynn's Hotel, Abbey Street, on Thursday 28 July at 7.30 pm. Frank McBrearty Jnr, a spectacular victim of garda corruption, is also eloquent about linking his case with other examples of all that is wrong with today's Ireland, such as is highlighted by the Rossport 5. Eamon McCann needs no introduction. Both will speak on the need for a new Left in Ireland, one that actively resists injustice and acts for real change. read full story / add a comment

Have a look at the link http://www.odci.gov/cia/ciakids/ where you will find a CIA (Crininals in Action or more commonly know as Central Intelligence Agency) web page for kids. When I heard of this I though at first it was a joke, a sick joke indeed. But no, its true. Theres even an FBI page. What next I wonder. Just like the old USSR and Hitler youth tactics, get em while they are young and impressionable. read full story / add a comment

Much to the dismay of establishment Britain, listeners to the BBC’s In our time radio programme convincingly voted for Karl Marx as the greatest ever philosopher. The show, presented by Lord Melvin Bragg and currently the most popular Radio Four programme on the internet after The Archers, ran an online poll for five weeks, presenting the voters with a short list of 20 eminent thinkers.
