I would have thought there will be quite a big crowd?
Can someone tell me what an ombursdaman is? And why are they calling for one?
I would have thought an ombudsman would have been a good idea.
Does anyone see the contradiction of Eammon McCann asking for corruption in the Guards to be rightly investigated, while at the start of the year was asking individuals to co-operate with the PSNI in the investigation of the brutal murder of Robet McCartney.
The corruption of both forces is an issue to be merged not cherry picked in the McCann and SWP, jump on the bandwagon way.
"The Only Good Police Force Is One That Employs Less Criminals Than It Catches "
Put yourself on the line McCann deal with the corruption of the PSNI in your home city.

Not really, because the PSNI/RUC already have an ombuds(wo)man - the Gardaí don't.
Corruption and rampant absue exists in both forces (as I'm sure McCann well knows and would not dispute), but up north they at least have an independent person to take complaints to. Down here, we don't.
Didnt Gerry Adams issue a statement asking people to give the PSNI information about Robert McCartneys murder too ? Or is that different when he asks people to do it ?
I have nothing but admiration for the McBrearty family.Whatever the politics of the situation in Donegal may be(of which I know nothing) it is manifestly evident that all the resources of the office of law enforcement(the Garda Siochana) in Ireland have been used and abused to incarcerate an innocent man. If the crusade of the McBrearty family achieve their objective of independent scrutiny of the police in the republic of Ireland (a big if) they will have achieved more than has been achieved by the combined forces of all the opposition political parties put together. Meaningful reform in any state comes not from politicians but from the voice and action and determination of the ordinary people. The McBreartys are no longer ordinary citizens. They are citizens with a mission to right a wrong which they have suffered in the hard school of practical experience and I believe nothing will stop them. This could be a rallying call. This could be a Marcos event,if the common sheep would only follow a leader.
I hope to be present on Thursday.
Justice - What Justice?
Good on the McBrearty's who held their ground while being attacked by the State -
It's a long road has no turning - the McBreartys and all the families they represent will see justice, for the Irish people demand it.
