The likes of Romano Prodi and Silvio Berlusconi have stupidly thrown away the only hope for world peace by squandering the chance to make peace between Europe and the Arab World. Instead of recognising the fact that the oppression of Europeans by the undemocratic EU and the oppression of Arab world by the hegemony of the global U.S./ Israel alliance are bot part of the same evil plot they are like poodles obeying their American masters. We meanwhile will suffer for their mistakes.
The struggle of Bin Laden is clearly not against Europe but between the extreme right wing U.S./Israel and the Arab world.
As Bin Laden rightly says Madrid and New York were punishments for interfering in the affairs of soveriegn Arab nations. read full story / add a comment

as two more combat divisions are requested for Iraq and 25,000 troops in Iraq are told to stay an extra 90 days, Shannon airports tills are ringing with blood money from Bush's war machine. Of course, there is no mention of the Iraqi dead and wounded, and any dead Americans fly home from Ramstein to Dover.
Shannon only handles the live troops.

Meeting: Sunday April 18th 12 - 5pm -Teachers Club (36 Parnell Sq. West)

The May Day protests have attracted a media feeding frenzy and a series of threats of police repression. This hysteria is geared to intimidating people from joining the protest and justifying the repression of civil liberties.

We are asking people who can't come out at the weekend or don't feel safe doing so to help us out in some other way. There's a meeting this Sunday, and a list of possible actions below if you can't come to that.

If the May Day protests are criminalised this will not just affect us. It will further restrict the scope of peaceful protest within Ireland to what is acceptable to the powers that be. read full story / add a comment

Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union (ATGWU) Motion calling on the Dublin Council of Trade Unions (DCTU) to revert to having their annual May Day as normal On May Day, May 1ST this year (2004) was only thrown out by the narrowest of margins (11-10) at the DCTU Monthly General Delegates meeting last night (Tuesday the 13TH, unlucky for some, I.E. The DCTU).

The turnout was much smaller than normal due to the continuing difficulties with the postal service, and there were 2 delegates that I know, who would have voted for the ATGWU Motion had they have known of last night's DCTU meeting in advance, and this would have forced the DCTU into a very embarrassing climbdown. read full story / add a comment
