A number of the SIPTU City Jet strikers (plus SP councillor Clare Daly - who is in the rank and file 'Dublin Airport Workers Network') were arrested today. This is for breaching the injuction given to management prohibiting protests/pickets on City Jet. They are in the Bridewell garda station at present. read full story / add a comment

Ireland ranks 6th in the world in terms of press freedom, according to the first worldwide index of press freedom compiled by Reporters Without Borders. The ranking was compiled from surveys completed by journalists in each country. Incidently the United States ranked 17, behind Costa Rica, while the UK ranked 22, behind Benin. Amnesty International UK say they did not receive two CDs ROMS sent to them on October 14th 2002. The UK Post Office claims that the small packet (sent through the Royal Mail "Special Delivery" service) containing the two CD ROMs was satisfactorily delivered on October 15th 2002. read full story / add a comment
