The Second World War started on the 1 September 1939. The invasion of Nazi Germany into Poland started on this day. This very day didn't only become the beginning of the horrible and sanguinary war in Europe but as well the day of the onset of the pan European resistance. This happened 67 year ago. And then came Victory. It seemed that Nazism was conquered once and for all. But today we face people and whole organized groups, who popularize the supremacy of one race, ethnos or religion. It turns out that virtual monsters are tough to be buried at once. That's why on 1 September we keep iterating over and over again - "resistance to Nazism didn't remain in the past and is crucial today". read full story / add a comment

This is just a short account, and attempted analysis, of some news stories that have arisen in the last year or so in the general area of justice and intelligence agency activity in Ireland. I have tried particularly to tie some of the stories together in order to attempt to trace some of the major trends in this otherwise miscellaneous data. Unfortunately it isn't a pretty picture! read full story / add a comment

I. Introduction: This report is not constitutionally required of any non-sabbatical member of the Union Executive. I have compiled as an example of how easy it is to comply with the wishes of those students who proposed the draft Union constitutions of February 2004 and February 2005. These documents both contained the proposal for each member of the Union Executive to produce an end of year report which would include a continuity section to as a written guide of action for their successors. I hope that this report serves a guide or small piece of insight for all those contemplating involvement in an official capacity in the UCD STudents' Union Executive. read full story / add a comment

Harold H. Thompson Anarchist Prisoner Harold H. Thompson is an anarchist prisoner serving life plus sentences in Tennessee, USA after a series of farcical trials. Harold is well known for his work as a 'jailhouse lawyer' and copes with prison by fighting for his fellow prisoner in the courts for some semblance of real justice. "I am an anti-authoritarian, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anarchist revolutionary of proud Irish heritage. I am also a vegetarian and strongly support the animal liberation movement. I stand for civil/human rights and will not break, bend nor be intimidated. I stand in solidarity with all people struggling against oppression but most particularly with my brothers and sisters in the anarchist movement". read full story / add a comment

Socialism as a concept cannot be summed up as easily as its opposite, capitalism. Capitalism is quite simply the pursuit of wealth by many individuals; the strongest will succeed while the weakest fall by the wayside. At present, this is the dominant social, economic and political ideology in global politics. We, of course, recognise that the basing of a society on such a negative human condition as greed is inherently wrong. We look to build a better system, one where all are cherished equally. read full story / add a comment
