THE FOLLOWING declaration for a new workers' party was launched by the Socialist Party at Socialism 2005, a weekend of discussion and debate attended by hundreds of young people, trade union and community activists.
Initial signatories include 21 trade union national executive committee (NEC) members and four councillors.
The campaign for a new workers' party will be collecting thousands more signatures over the coming months in support of the declaration. read full story / add a comment

On Nov 16th 1989, six Jesuits (one a graduate of Milltown, Dublin) were slained be elite Salvadoran troops trained at the School of the Americas, Ft. Benning, Georgia, USA. Around the anniversary of these deaths human rights activists gather to march on SOA chanting the names of Latin American dead slain by SOA graduates, some trespass facing 6-18 months in prison.

Thousands of Latin Americans have been killed by the gradiates of SOA. 10,000 Colomban troops alone have been trained at Ft. Benning (USA) in the past ten years. read full story / add a comment
