The WHO once aimed to help nations stand on their own two feet, but now it mainly pushes the agendas of the rich and powerful, says Dr David Bell. That's why it cares more about experimental vaccines than basic sanitation.

Pauline Hanson recently announced on news radio that her political views have been “vindicated”; she cited the overt racist attitudes of John Howard and Peter Costello as proof of her claim. Who could deny it? Hanson’s imprisonment on trumped-up charges was an act of political assassination instigated by Howard but executed by his then errand boy, Tony Abbott. Hanson’s trial and subsequent imprisonment effectively eliminated her and her party from the Australian political landscape; mainstream racist ideology was re-established in its rightful home, the white Australian conservative ultra-right Liberal Party of Howard! The world watches Australia take a giant leap backwards as Howard continues to divide the nation. read full story / add a comment

The families an survivors of the stardust fire are continuing their picket of the Maxal filling station, which is owned by the Butterly family.
They are looking for justice for all those who were affected by the fire.

Times of pickets are:
Monday to Friday 6 – 8pm
Saturday 10am to 6pm
Sunday 12:30 to 6:00pm

They want the enquiry into the fire re opened, and a memorial on the site of the fire.

The Butterly family have had people out taking down registration numbers of cars, and they have claimed that they are losing 50% of their business. The picket is working. If anyone who reads this post can go out to support them even for only a few minutes they greatly appreciate the solidarity.

On a personal note I have been out on the picket, and I have never been so moved by the strength of the people who have survived such a traumatic event. After 25 years they deserve justice.

Sports Stars shocked at racism

"FIX," snorted an urchin at the back, his voice rich with Dublin devilment and just a touch of disappointment.

Like most young lads in the large, sweltering room, he'd had his eyes on the prize, a soccer ball signed by Liverpool's UEFA Cup-winning heroes.

Yet the winning ticket was held by Adetoyese Kemi, a student at The Kings Inn Secondary School for girls.

Of course it wasn't a fix. Just a delicious twist of fate which brought yesterday's formal launch of soccer's "Show Racism the Red Card" campaign in Ireland to a splendid conclusion.

With 20,000 free posters of the Republic of Ireland team and an educational CD-Rom available for distribution to schools, the campaign is making a determined effort to educate the nation's children through sport. read full story / add a comment
