There is a three quarter page broadsheet profile of Tim Hourigan with the above title. Friends of the Earth Galway are having an information event on the Corrib Gas exploitation tonight (Friday 6th) at 7pm in the Galway One World Centre (beside the Quays). There'll be a video about the Ogoni in Nigeria and guest speaker is Maura Harrington. Blanchardstown Shopping center refused today to allow the handing out of leaflets advertising the December 7th march in dublin. When asked the Centers managment produced its rule book and pointed out that not even retailers were allowed to leaflet in or on the Centers Grounds. The managment also said it did not allow any political postering during election time, A member of the public remarked, "I understand the desire not to be connected to the present political system,but refusing to allow anti-war leafleting seems amoral at the least". read full story / add a comment

(If you are not well, you're against us) Americans undergoing radioactive medical treatments risk setting off anti-terrorism sensors in public places, and subsequent strip searches by police, warn doctors at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. A 34-year-old patient who had been treated with radioactive iodine for Graves disease, a thyroid disorder, returned to their clinic three weeks later complaining he had been strip-searched twice in Manhattan subway stations. Just a thought...During the abortion referendum the case of the Portuguese women and the nurse tried on abortion charges made headlines. The nurse got a heavy prison sentence. I thought it might be an idea to send her Christmas cards...Amnesty style. If anyone would like to do this her address is below.
