A new report is out, today, which links pesticides and human health/sperm count.

USA Today claims that this is the first time a link has been made.

It isn't the first time, actually ,there are a pletora of pieces of research done on problems with pesticides.

I could link to USA Today, but instead ,check http://www.panna.org , and the story is on the homepage.

In particular, for one of many other, older, pieces of research on the dangers of pesticides, check out this piece of research:

international / anti-war / imperialism / news report Wednesday June 18, 2003 18:23 by Global Women's Strike
This report is from the sister picket of the Global Women's Strike Anti-war/occupation picket, Galway,
opposite the Houses of Parliament in London.
A lively press conference in the House of Commons on 17 June defended
protesters' right to be seen and heard in Parliament Square. Many who
packed the room have supported Brian Haw's two-year, 24-hour protest against
the genocide of Iraqi children, or have come for the open microphone at the
community anti-war picket organised by the Global Women's Strike. The
protests are now under threat through legislation, and from roving
anti-protest police units..... read full story / add a comment

The text of Sinn Féin's submission on property rights to the All Party Oireachtas Committee on the Constitution.

"Private property has been and remains an instrument of oppression of people the world over. A tool of oppression, it has been used by the landlord against the tenant, monarch against subject, man against woman. Domination of one person over another has been facilitated by the existence of private property." read full story / add a comment

George Bush may have declared major combat operations over in Iraq on May 1st but resistance to the US occupation forces goes on. The killing today of one more US soldier at a petrol station in Baghdad means 42 have been killed in combat since that date, almost one per day. And every week US soldiers coming to and from Iraq continue to fly through Shannon airport. read full story / add a comment

The Cork Anti-War Campaign will host a public meeting on the current war in the Congo at 8pm on Thursday, 26 June, at Isaac's Hotel on McCurtain Street. All welcome! Speakers will include Bernadette McGonigle (chairperson of Amnesty International in Ireland) and Pierrot Ngandi (chairperson of the Congolese-Irish Partnership). There will be plenty of time for discussion. Between 3.5 and 4.5 million people have died since 1998 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a result of war. It is a conflict that, by and large, has been ignored in Western Europe, and needs to be addressed by the global anti-war movement. What occurred in Rwanda in 1994 could recur in the DCR on a greater scale and the international community appears to be little more than vaguely interested.
