This is a statement from the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Company. This union has a long history of struggle for econnomic and civil rights. Here they make clear that there must be a struggle for the rights of all Iranians who have been oppressed. This article is supposed to be available on http://www.justiceforiranianworkers.org/ but that site is down at present. So I am posting it in full here.

In line with the recognition of the labour rights, we request that June 26 Action Day - Justice for Iranian workers - to include the human rights of all Iranians who have been deprived of their rights.

We wish to announce the formation of IFPAL, Irish Friends of Palestine Against Lisbon. Below is a copy of an email I recieved from Stevo...

I've just been texted that the Solitaire is currently anchored off Donegal. This steps the need for people present on camp even higher. Subsequently anybody that can make it up there should try to do so. As I have been saying people are needed both to help run the camp and perform the actual actions. But they are needed NOW.

Anybody with access to spare boats, could they please donate them now too. read full story / add a comment

Just before you reach for your pay-4-view digital TV zapper and start flicking through the Italian news channels to find coverage of these latest revealations, let me tell you, if indeed you needed to know, that Berlusconi's media empire have hidden the story from Italian viewers salicious and prurient interest.

Nonetheless, Patrizia D'Addario, an experienced sex worker of certain allure & also a candidate in Berlusconi's party for the municipal government of Bari, attended a court hearing investigating charges of corruption laid against one of Mr B's party who doesn't have immunity yesterday. She brought along half a dozen video and audio recordings, in the best tradition of citizen journalism recorded on her mobile phone which attested to Mr B's escort service habit.

Eirigí members had a very successful action at a $hell PR briefing in Buswell's Hotel, Dublin.

Seven Eirigí members turned up with their banner and excellent arguments and many questions for the four gurus? = apocolyptic horse soldiers of the giant multinational oil company, that is ($)hell.

As an observer, it was very interesting to see and hear what some of the visitors from across the road (the Dáil -Irish Parliament) had to say to the blippers of spin.

This was a hastily convened and 'played down' (their words) PR attempt by $hell and in my opinion, a disaster.

A Shell to Sea kayaker who paddled out from the shore near the Rossport Solidarity Camp was arrested and detained by Shell Security personnel at about 5pm today, Tue 16th June.

Two security guards waded into the water, captured the man in his canoe and dragged him to shore and onto the Shell site, where he was forcibly held until Gardaí handcuffed him and detained him in a Garda van.

Despite the fact that the captured man was given no reason for his arrest and detention by either Shell or the Gardai; Garda Sgt. Kieran Lavelle MY2 denied later that the man was arrested at all, but that he was being held 'for his own safety'. read full story / add a comment

The primary challenge facing Ireland’s economy at the moment is tackling unemployment. The question of how to do this is the challenge of labour market policy. The Trade Union Unite just released a report: Growing the Economy, A Programme for Economic Stimulus which can be found here: http://www.unitetheunion.com/pdf/Growing%20the%20Econom...T.pdf. This article is a contribution to an emerging debate on the need to put work-labour and jobs at the center of an economic recovery programme. read full story / add a comment

Iranian Secret Police have fired on the crowds protesting against the stealing of the Presidential election. Mir Hossein Mousavi, the "defeated" oresidential candidate had previously addressed the crowd. The demonstrators gathered in Tehran's Revolution Square, chanting pro-Mousavi slogans as riot police menaced them. "Mousavi we support you. We will die, but retrieve our votes," they shouted, many wearing the green of Mousavi's election campaign.

And Mr Mousavi eventually appeared, addressing the crowd from the roof of his car. "The vote of the people is more important than Mousavi or any other person," he told his supporters. Before Mr Mousavi arrived, Reuters reported that his supporters had scuffled with stick-wielding men on motorcycles - apparently supporters of the president. read full story / add a comment
