The international effort to delegitimize Israel continues apace. No lie, no Israeli blood libel is too low to stoop in the effort to undermine Israel's very existence and right to defend herself. The latest falsehood is different though; the source is a UN official, a paid Media Co-ordinator. In her personal capacity, of course. read full story / add a comment

With a million stray cats struggling to survive in harsh conditions, the Government has once again excluded their welfare from the draft Animal Health and Welfare Bill. Campaigners are lobbying for cat welfare to be included in the new animal welfare laws, that cats should no longer be classified as 'pests' alongside mice and rats and that a comprehensive neutering campaign be put in place. This article hopes to highlight the current situation in Ireland as Rescues and welfare organisations reach breaking point and the situation spirals out of control while the Government refuses to get involved. read full story / add a comment

This is an article to mark international women's day 2012. The austerity that is being forced on the Irish people so that the banks can be bailed out is causing harm to every aspect of society. This article does not suggest that hard times are an excuse or cause of domestic violence but that austerity is worsening the situation for women trapped in abusive relationships and is taking away services that are life saving to them. read full story / add a comment

When Boris Johnson cancelled the annual St Patrick’s Day dinner in 2009 there was widespread disbelief about his decision. His remarks this week reveal what lay behind that decision. Many Londoners will be disturbed by the mayor of London’s contemptuous remarks about a community which has given, and continues to give, so much to our capital city. read full story / add a comment

For the past six months and longer once Libya had fallen to the NATO sponsored 'rebels', we have faced a continuous media onslaught about Syria with reports of protests, shootings, killings, attacks, bombing and so forth. The backdrop to the narrative is that this is part of the Arab Spring which started last year and it is a good thing overall. So many people are probably wondering what really has been happening, given that this is the same media that was cheer leading the Iraq war almost 10 years ago even though at least a million+ are now dead as a result. And yet somehow they want to imply that they are doing the right thing now. We should also recall that this is the same media that is promoting austerity and encouraging us to accept the blame for the mad years of the bubble and as a consequence we should pay up the €90 billion bailout and in the process see all the state services stripped to the bone. They are presenting the uncomplicated truth surely read full story / add a comment

Sean Gallagher is about as useful to Irish society as the cartoon behind his picture and his presidential policies had the same substance as the sugary drip he is sucking. RTE is the victim of a political scam artist who sold his story (for how much?) to the Sindo. This chicken (shit) farmer who tried to scam nearly 60,000 Euro is now trying to scam the public. It is all a big ball of smoke. read full story / add a comment

Aer Lingus (http://www.aerlingus.com/aboutus/), the national flag airline of Ireland, has introduced language tests at check-in for foreigners flying to Ireland. The tests are stated to be a security measure intended to detect imposters travelling on fake or stolen passports from a number of European Union countries. The selected foreign nationals are required to pass a written comprehension test in English and in their own language before admission to the flight. The affected countries are stated to be Greece, Italy and Portugal. Although targeting 'high-risk' EU nationals, the language tests are probably aimed at detecting Asian or African migrants travelling on passports from these countries. This may be a taste of things to come in Ireland, with language and civics tests on Alan Shatter's list of priorities for 2012 (http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/JELR/Pages/PR12000001) read full story / add a comment

Western forces shot dead 16 civilians including nine children in southern Kandahar province on Sunday, Afghan officials said, in a rampage that witnesses said was carried out by American soldiers who were laughing and appeared drunk. Media are trying to spin the incident and limit the damage by claiming just one soldier was responsible. The old "one bad apple" excuse. But The whole corrupt applecart is in danger of being overturned as a result of this latest atrocity, in the wake of the "Koran burning" incident which so far has led to 23 deaths (guardian) read full story / add a comment

Eoghan Harris regularly rants about terrorism both real and imaginary. While he still checks under his bed for Trots his main fear is that we are in a Weimar Republic stage and Sinn Fein are on the verge of seizing power. He fails to notice that his beloved Blueshirts are the one party in Ireland with a Fascist past. read full story / add a comment
