Foreign Secretary David Lammy set out "the future of the U.K.'s foreign policy" this week. It's an abysmal vision, says Dr. David McGrogan, but it gives hope that the edifice of 'progressive realism' will soon collapse.

Petition to get hare coursing banned in Ireland

category international | animal rights | opinion/analysis author Monday March 12, 2012 13:11author by Ban Hare Coursing Cruelty Report this post to the editors

A petition has been started to call on the Taoisech Enda Kenny to support the upcoming Bill that aims to ban hare coursing
Hare Coursing: Please sign petition to have it banned
Hare Coursing: Please sign petition to have it banned

Please sign this petition (it takes only a few seconds) seeking support for the upcoming Bill to ban the horribly cruel practice of live hare coursing in Ireland.

Hare coursing is a so-called "sport" in which hares are set up as bait for greyhounds to chase and terrorize. Many hares are killed or horribly injured each year as they are mauled or tossed about like rag dolls on the coursing fields. Some hares die within seconds of being struck by the fast moving dogs. Others die of agonizing internal injuries, such as bone breakages that cannot heal.

Deputies Maureen O' Sullivan and Clare Daly will move a Private Members Bill in the coming months in an effort to have hare coursing banned.

Anyone who agrees that hares should be protected from this horrendous cruelty can sign the petition requesting government support for this Bill.
