ATTAC are holding this protest at very short notice - anyone concerned with Article 133/GATS/Privatisation who can make it along at 3pm would be very welcome. Any Libertairians who have those lovely 133 posters would get a special welcome I'm sure. read full story / add a comment

Kirsty Hughes' FT article speculates that there are in fact TWO possible Plan B's and that those that are busy telling us there's no Plan B are being "economical with the truth". The choice that faces the other EU members would be to go ahead with enlargement, which does not need the Nice Treaty but does remove larger countries' second EU Commissioner or to delay enlargement until they can gerrymander the Constitutional Structure of the EU to their own advantage. Hughes points out that Prodi let slip that Nice was NOT essential to enlargement earlier last year and that this is confirmed by the fact that a conference on the EU constitution is coming up. So, enlargement is NOT the issue, therefore business and government want this for other reasons (privatization? free-markets?) read full story / add a comment

Haidi then spoke a simple thing that Italians are doing to show their opposition to the war and which we can follow in this country. “A piece of white cloth to show that we don’t agree with the war. Like attaching a piece of white cloth to our windows. This is an initiative that is going on right throughout Italy now' read full story / add a comment

Was flicking through the golden pages today and came across the list for political parties. (No Socialist Party or SWP, purged?) Terrifyingly, I found an entry for Democratic Left. DL seemingly have their HQ in 69 Middle Abbey St and phone number 8729700, rang out when I tried it. If memory serves De Rossa has his Europe office around there somewhere, maybe he never really left DL and they're out there....waiting....... read full story / add a comment
