In the last number of years we have heard about Gardai indiscipline and Gardai brutality in our country. The Morris Tribunal in Donegal states that is fact. But tonight let us focus on prison in-discipline and prison collusion of hatred within the system. The 17 years I worked with Simon gives rise to meeting a variety of people. They were mostly homeless due to a compulsory overtime system. This system was overturned in the High Court in the 1980's but it was too late for hundreds of officers who suffered from depression and additcton to alcohol within the System. Athletes, trainers, mammies and daddies and fans from many parts of the world - notably Africa, Poland, England, Scotland, France and the USA - gathered for a cross-country running meet in St Fechins' GAA grounds in Termonfeckin today. The meeting kicked off at 12.00 noon with underage races. The men's and the women's race took place on either side of 3.00 p.m. The track was fast and flat and it did not churn up despite the many races which took place on the day. read full story / add a comment

February 1st, St Brigid's Day, marked the day when Shell announced obscene annual profits of 20 Billion Euro, while the communities they fleece pay the ultimate price of environmental destruction and death, all around the world. Our government pumps for Shell but we're gonna stop them. St Brigid's Well, Liscannor, Co Clare is a site of annual open-air religious service on that day and Clare Shell to Sea were there to greet the pilgrimage makers. On Friday night, February 2nd, The Ruaille Buaille World Music Dance Club held a fundraiser for Clare Shell to Sea in Scariff, East Clare.
