Music ... makes people ... come together! February 1st, St Brigid's Day, marked the day when Shell announced obscene annual profits of 20 Billion Euro, while the communities they fleece pay the ultimate price of environmental destruction and death, all around the world. .

20 Billion Years?! Students Chiara & Mauro have better things to be doing!
Shell to Hell.
Del values the eternal riches …
… and time stands still at his gaf!
Terrific - good to see righteousness & music & faith joining to change things~!
I am most grateful and appreciative of the actions of Clare Shell to Sea in solidarity with Mayo Shell to Sea. It is nice to see the Meitheal working to help ordinary folks in trouble especially when the ordinary folks in Rossport and North Mayo have and still are, being thrown aside by both our Govt and Fine Gael as well, in favour of a dirty greedy multinational corporation that is Shell -whose turnover is bigger than the combined economies of many of the world's countries.
I am a mother of young school going children and if I could I would be down at 7am each morning at Ballinaboy to stand with my brave neighbours and friends as they are being abused and misrepresented on a daily basis by our national garda force charged with protecting a dirty multinational foreign corporation, on the Govt's say so. There are plenty other locals like me who support them and agree with them but cannot get down to Ballinaboy to stand with them in peaceful protest (which is what they are been doing all the time.)
Go raibh mile maith agaibh to clare Shell to Sea.
I have an idea!
It will accomadate all the poor people of the erris area who cant protest at bellanaboy during the week because of other commitments!
Why not have a day of protest on a saturday or sunday?
that way concerned people like undercovers mom could attend and bring her kids with her!
Also the 100,000 people of mayo who cant attend during the week would be able to attend and show their suport for shell-to-sea!
Dear Fix itJim
Do you realise your scarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
I have a better idea why doesn't Shell the foreign owned multinational corpo use some of its profits and build an offshore terminal to treat the deadly raw gas at no costs to the state. ....Then the end result will still be the same --GAS AND OIL FLOWING FOR IRELAND OR WHATEVER COUNTRY THAT Shell WANTS TO SELL TO ( because of course it is Shell that owns Irelands Corrib resource not Ireland).
Furthermore if the people of Cork can have the Kinsale field refined offshore why can't the people of MAYO HAVE THE SAME TREATMENT???
I don't see why the Corrib field must be done onshore using non international approved standards.
Do you realise undercovers mom that if your idea(I have a better idea why doesn't Shell the foreign owned multinational corpo use some of its profits and build an offshore terminal to treat the deadly raw gas at no costs to the state).
It would cost me/you and every person in this country, not shell!
If shell was to go off shore it would not cost them a cent extra, so please don't be gullible enough to believe everything you hear.
If you don't believe me look it up! ask dr garavin/Andy Pyle/Terry Nolan or Brian Cowen.
They will all tell you the same thing, every cent that is spent by shell to process the gas will be deducted from their tax liabilities.
Also the vast majority of pipeline explosions are of pipelines carrying refined gas, (again check it out) for example the explosion of the pipeline in Belgium "used on the s2s website, that was a transmission line with odorised gas.
P.s I do realise "sarcasm is the lowest form of wit" but I was neither trying to be sarcastic or witty
Fix it Jim, the fact is the state- our very own elected govt negotiated a bum deal with oil exploration companies (the most favourable to them in the world) and one which effectively means that Shell can offset any costs it incurs with its explorations WORLDWIDE and this is paid for by the Irish taxpayer in terms of reduced liabilities and you yourself has admitted this, I quote, "If shell was to go off shore it would not cost them a cent extra".
So if the state will be paying in terms of reduced TAX LIABILITIES from Shell for its works around the world, the least the govt should do is ensure that this project is done safely for its Mayo electorate and that means --OFFSHORE.
Furthermore you telling me that "the most explosions are pipelines carrying refined gas " does not inspire me with confidence We are dealing with a company here that has one of the worst if not the worst environmental track records in the world. Sure if Shell unintentionally blows up the village of Rossport WITH THIS UNPRECEDENTED RAW GAS PIPELINE (THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE IN TERMS OF INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS)and contaminates our drinking water and destroys our communities, Ireland can pay for it thanks to the terms agreed by Ray Burke and others. The thing is lives lost cannot be valued in monetary terms. Fixit Jim if you look at the EIS reports, SHELL has factored in these deaths into its probabilities.
And of course as you have already said, these albeit unfortunate events such as pipleline explosions that could occur in processing the gas can be offset against its tax liabilities.
It would only cost in the region of 8 days profit to Shell to build the terminal offshore, why is this not feasible??? That would still give Shell 348 days profit remaining that it will still probably offset against Irish tax liabilities anyway. Shells loyalties to this country is zilch and its objective is to maximise shareholder profit. Take the Kinsale field any taxes paid out to Revenue there by the Oil company are handed right back again by Revenue to the Company in question but FIXIT JIM THE bottom line is the GAS IS PROCESSED OFFSHORE at KINSALE.
"Shell can offset any costs it incurs with its explorations WORLDWIDE"=incorrect
Sure if Shell unintentionally blows up the village of Rossport =correct, and that is what S2S campaing should concentrate on, not going off on a tangent about natural resources/nigeria/ect.ect the high pressure pipeline sould be re-routed wel away from houses, I totally aggree with that.
"SHELL has factored in these deaths into its probabilities. " =where in the EIS did you find that?
"pipleline explosions that could occur in processing the gas can be offset against its tax liabilities. "
= total nonsence
"It would only cost in the region of 8 days profit to Shell to build the terminal offshore"= incorrect, it would cost us 200 million in lost taxes!
GAS IS PROCESSED OFFSHORE at KINSALE=yes correct
"contaminates our drinking water and destroys our communities, Ireland can pay for it thanks to the terms agreed by Ray Burke and others. "= more total nonsence, under eu law"polluter pays princible" shell would be "totally liable" for any pollution they cause.(check it out http://eur-lex.europa.eu/en/index.htm).
If you or anyone else has figures to show shell has caused contamination of our drinking water "produce them"
Greenpeace has a lab in Exeter and I am sure they would be happy to analise the water in carramore!
"The high pressure pipeline should be routed away from houses"
Have you got a route in mind? It's hard to see how you can transport high pressure gas from the sea bed to a refinery nine km inland without passing any roads or houses.
But many people feel that the issue at hand is not a simple matter of health and safety, it's bigger than that.
Why is none of the money from our natural resources benefiting the people of the country? Why does Ireland have such favourable terms for multi-nationals? Why are Norwegians going to benefit, and not Irish people? What's going on?
Some of us would be protesting no matter where this refinery was going, it's our gas (since we believe it belongs to the people of Ireland), and we don't think it should be given away for free...
But whatever your problem with this project, it should not go ahead as planned. It does not have community consent and it does not have your consent. Rather than picking arguments with each other, let's sort it out with Shell and Fianna Fail.
There is too many strands in the shell to sea camp, all with different agendas.
That is our weak point we should speak as one,
This is about health and safety, everything else is only confusing the issiue
Diverse strands maybe, that's natural. We speak and do as one ... to stop ... the Wrong Project in the Wrong Place. I don't think it's any more complicated than that.
This campaign is as strong as it can be at this time given the violence of An Garda Síochána which seems unmanagable to us and by us. That's the challenge, it'll just take some work that's all.
That is what sHELLs pigs want, for us to be too scared to protest.
But we will show them on the 16th, we must get a huge turnout of locals especially, they are the ones that really count,
they must show themself and be counted, It seems it is always the same few local faces ,where are the rest, we need them to stand up for their rights..
