Edinburgh's Carnival For Full Enjoyment was roundly condemned by the police, Edinburgh City Council and the mass media. But what was this anti G8 action really about? And what really happened on the streets of Scotland's capital on 4th July? Here for the first time the Carnivalistas give their own account of the day.... read full story / add a comment

Today, led by the indefatigable and omnipresent, Dr. Gerry Cowley, Shell to Sea activists along with some young turks from Ogra Sinn Fein highlighted the plight of the Rossport 5 outside the main entrance to the Galway races in Ballybrit and when the traffic into the race course began petering out did the same again outside Entrance B. From the frequent warm expressions of solidarity directed at Gerry, it is clear, he is widely recognized and that his efforts on behalf of the Rossport 5 and his spearheading of the campaign to send Shell to Sea are, likewise, widely lauded. After our stint on the frontline, the good doctor announced his attention of going into the race meeting to winkle out Ahern from the Fianna Fail corruption tent in order to shame the bugger (the 25 euro entrance fee kyboshed our good intentions to join him). After that, J.C was off to Cloverhill stir to visit the 5. The protests continue tomorrow in Ballybrit - please join us outside Entrance C @ 12 noon?. read full story / add a comment

The basis for the difficulty around this year's Belfast Pride Parade is that the 'Stop The Parade Coalition' - an amalgam of various shades of Christian fundamentalism - by campaigning against, denouncing, and opposing the parade, has resulted in the parade being designated "contentious" by the PSNI read full story / add a comment

The Dublin City North Branch of the INTO has passed a motion endorsing the call by outgoing union president, Austin Corcoran, that all schools become safe places for all children -to be given the status of embassies. It is hoped that more branches within the union will take up this issue and that by next year's annual congress a campaign will be launched in the union to make this a reality. read full story / add a comment

Tonight, the great 'n good, the rotten 'n corrupt of Fianna Fail, with heads down ran the gauntlet of our contempt as they headed into the Radisson hotel for their contemptible ego-fest, Ahern, looking bovine, if not ovine crept sheepishly by, well ensconsed in his security car and Special Branch minders. A similiar scourging is planned for this miscreant at tomorrow's Galway Race's. read full story / add a comment
