GARDAI HAVE arrested a further 12 anti-bin tax campaigners in Fingal. Three were arrested in Clonsilla and a further nine - including a husband and wife - were arrested in the Huntstown area. Two of those arrested appeared before the high court this afternoon, the rest are due to appear tomorrow. This is the latest Council manoeuvre against the Anti-Bin Tax Campaign. This follows the 5,000 strong solidarity demonstration outside Mountjoy Prison last night (Mon 22nd Sept), where Joe Higgins and Clare Daly are detained.

sutherland.jpg "I wasn't sure how best to make my point. We had an ongoing protest outside and I didn't want to waste my chance now that I had managed to be suited-up and seated at this greed fest. I waited and waited and before I knew it, got up, walked across the ballroom, approached Sutherland as he sat down and said 'Excuse me Peter, can I shake your hand?'. As he held my hand, I fastened my grip and explained 'now Peter, we're not going to make a scene. I could embarrass you greatly so I advise you to listen carefully. I have a message from the people of West Papua and Ireland. Your policies with BP are nothing other than terrorism. You are plundering their land and hiring the Indonesian military to prevent the natives from living on their sacred land. It's the same in Colombia, Iraq and Turkey where your greed is manifested as terrorism. You are an economic terrorist.....Ireland and its people have had enough of your agenda. We won't stand for being part of another empire. We will not join your military alliances and platforms for a new world order. We know your Bilderberg agenda and we will put a stop it to'.

awaref.gif Because he (My Father) died suddenly it was necessarily for a post mortem to be carried out. I learned that there were 9 autopsies on 9 other suicides in the mid west region over the previous 2 days. The day after My father died, while the body was being removed from the family home, I heard an ambulance respond to an emergency. It passed my house and I remember one man say to me, "it's terrible, some other family might have to deal with a tragedy". The next day i learned that the ambulance had been called in response to another suicide, a neighbour had killed herself. The neighbour, also mentally ill from bi-polar disorder killed herself while her husband was at my fathers funeral.

My point is that these deaths were ignored by the public at large. Every tragic car accident is reported on the news, people realise how dangerous cars can be, there are measures being taken, lots of money being spent to try to reduce these car accidents. However, when a person takes his or her own life there is a hushed silence, whispers behind closed curtains, Very often the family will not disclose the cause of death, instead preferring to ascribe a more "acceptable" departure to their troubled loved one.

east_wall.jpg The initial battles are over and now finally the war has begun. After being beaten on every front and with non-payment still remaining very high, Fingal council became the first one to try and implement their new tactic of non-collection of the rubbish. This is something they've had to wait to implement because it took new laws to be railroaded though the dail for them to be able to start this withdrawal of services.

As I write this morning (Sept 10th) there are eight different trucks which are blockaded into various estates in the north Dublin area known as Fingal. The campaign is stating that either all the bags of rubbish are picked up or none of them shall be picked up. This is a vital couple of weeks for the campaigns.
