Crimes against humanity including torture.

When George Bush passed through Shannon airport on Tuesday morning last, he insulted the Irish people by reviewing US troops who were also passing through Shannon airport, in direct violation of Irish neutrality and international law. This is not something new of course. Cambodia and Laos were also neutral states in the 1960s and 1970s when the US government used B52 bombers, to kill hundreds of thousands of their people. The UN remained silent then, and is silent now on US crimes against humanity. ... read full story / add a comment

Early February 2006 - Some 800 US troops have disembarked at the Dominican port of Barahona as part of the “New Horizons” military exercise that is to extend for several months.

The U.S. troops will build medical clinics and conduct medical training, an official said.

Some 100 troops were near the southern city of Barahona, close to the Haitian border, to work with the Dominican military on the projects, said Army spokesman Robert Appin.

About 3,500 soldiers would join the effort, part of “New Horizons” — a Latin American aid program the U.S. military has run since 1998, Appin said. The work runs through May 22.

Later, hundreds of demonstrators marched on the US Embassy in Santo Domingo as well as on the US military camp in Barahona, approximately 120 miles southwest of the capital. Demonstrators representing leftist, union and student groups presented a statement to a US Embassy official demanding the immediate withdrawal of the US troops.

Sean was charged with "obstructing a federal police officer" merely for questioning the officers right to search his car. Sean went to court in Alice Springs on Monday, the pre-trial hearing of the remaining Pine Gap folks is set fo April with a jury trial later in the year. Pine Gap is used for electronic information gathering and targetting for the U.S. war machine.

dublin / public consultation / irish social forum Thursday March 02, 2006 - 20:07 by Barry Finnegan
Despite the goodwill towards the ISF, throughout 2005 there was a quite limited number of activists willing to put in all the work required to stage big one to three day type Social Forums. In light of this, activists involved with the working groups of the Irish Social Forum in 2003 and 2004 have proposed to focus on the local: the Dublin Social Forum, and to hold the event monthly and in the evenings. 30 people may come, or 150, we’ll see! it is proposed by the DCBA that cleaner streets and no graffitti lead to less crime.

To this end, Dublin City Council is unanymous in wanting to go into partnership with them.

Two elements to anti-graffitti plan: a)., a third machine for "cleaning" the walls, and b)., employing proffessional artists to do murals, because, " If we paint on side of buildings, graffitti artists don’t like defacing other artists work, so this’ll stop ‘em…"
