Sure beats the wall to wall TV infotainment being dished out at present which seems, when looked at as a whole, like nothing less than a strategy to instill a pavlovian response in audiences linking Iraq and 911 in their minds. But . . . . there is no link between the two. ... read full story / add a comment

A new opinion poll suggests that the result of the Nice Treaty referendum is too close to predict, with a very high percentage of people saying they do not know how they will vote. The poll, carried out by Millward Brown IMS for the international bank Citigroup, was conducted among a nationwide sample of 1,000 voters and concluded last Thursday. It found that 29% intended to vote Yes, 19% said they would vote No, 9% would not vote and 44% said they did not know how they would vote. With such a high proportion of the sample undecided, the result was considered too close to call. Eighteen per cent of men but just 4% of women were in favour of the Treaty. The age range most strongly in favour of Nice was the over 65s, with 26% saying they would vote Yes. ... read full story / add a comment
