Some of the ten activists arrested outside the City Hall on Tuesday 8th April were summonsed to court for Thursday 17th April. The next date for them to appear will be the 15th May. This will hopefully give the solicitors enough time to collect evidence like video footage or eye witness reports. We need as many people who were there as possible to help us out. Please get in touch with us via email ([email protected]) snail mail (Legal Support c/o Giros, 1-5 Donegall Lane, Belfast) or give us a call 0044-7773918535 from the Republic of Ireland, 07773918535 from Northern Ireland and the UK. ... read full story / add a comment

1916 has been hijacked by the Sinners as their rebellion. It was not. James Connolly, the founder of the Labour Party, was commendant of the ICA and vice president of the proposed Republic. The rising wasn't simply about kicking the Brits out but having an independant socialist Ireland with equal rights and oppertunities for all. ... read full story / add a comment

The piece below is the editorial from the Limerick Leader of March 29th most probably written by the editor Brendan Halligan. The sentiments expressed correspond with the views he espouses week in week out in the "lader". Its classic neo conservatism and the first so public defence I have seen of the system. All he has left out is his opinion on the use of force to en-force it. If you email him he is not adverse to commenting on the views expressed in the paper once they are well articulated. Two members of the radical anti-war Catholic Worker Movement (see www.catholicworker.org) were arrested inside Shannon Airport in the early hours of Good Friday. Jenny Hannon of Dublin and Martin McGowan of Sligo were detained by airport security and police after making their way into the airfield. They had constructed a shrine to the Iraqis slain in the recent U.S. military assault, conducted the Catholic Office of the Dead and began to plant a bed of potatoes. By 3.45am they were still airside, where they continued their libation at the edge of the runway in peace. ... read full story / add a comment

Fermin Muguruza Basque rock singer was booed and hissed at last Thursday by most of the people present at the Spanish Music Awards, in Madrid. At a gala where almost all the winners and presenters were eager to express their opposition to the war against Irak Muguruza dedicated his prize to "all the Egunkaria workers" and editor Martxelo Otamendi, who was present.
