Wednesday 17 July is set to see the biggest one day strike in Britain for many years. Over one million local government workers in Unison, GMB, and T&G are set to strike over low pay, and in London additionally over London weighting. It is reported that at least seven people have been killed and another 20 wounded in an attack on an Israeli bus near a Jewish settlement in the West Bank. Ambulance workers said Palestinian gunmen set off a roadside bomb alongside the bus - which was travelling from Tel Aviv - at the entrance to the settlement.
