Low paid workers in Trinity College, who have been denied pensions, arrived uninvited at Mary Harney's official opening of a new facility in the college today (Monday Dec. 2nd). When she had finished speaking a group of SIPTU shop stewards took off their coats to reveal t-shirts with "27 years work - no pension". 161 employees were named in a successful case for pensions for part-time cleaning, catering and secretarial workers. Another 137 staff who were not named have been denied pensions. The government has refused to allow the employer to give pensions to those workers not named - which includes one woman with 27 years service! This has been going on since 1997, would such an injustice happen to a TD? Silly question. ... read full story / add a comment

IRISH REPUBLICAN SOCALIST PARTY 1 December 2002 Asking the Awkward Questions Terry Harkin Over the last few weeks assisting with the IRSP's effort to expose the use - by an unreconstructed RUC - of child informers to spy on their own people. I was struck with the lack of interest expressed by the media, Policing Board and world in general. Here we were, a legitimate political party with what by any standards was a major story. It had all the elements - sleaze, child abuse, paramilitaries and crooked cops. ... read full story / add a comment

I was wondering if there is any group or party involved in raising funds to support the fire-fighters in Britain.
