We've done two food-not-bombs so far, at RTS and on Buy Nothing Day. A couple of people have gotten to touch to find out if we'll be doing it again. I dont have much time to dedicate to it but with a steady group of people we could take it in turns running the stall and try to do it every week or two. If anyone doesn't know anything about the organisation check out www.foodnotbombs.org Basically the idea is to use food that would otherwise be wasted and to feed hungry and homeless people. If anyone wants to come along to an organising meeting send me an e-mail to [email protected] When we sort out a meeting time and place I'll post it here. ... read full story / add a comment

ALMOST 90 people attended the Irish Anti-War Movement Public Meeting in the Glenroyal Hotel Maynooth last Thursday night. The large attendance came to hear Emmet Stagg TD (Lab) Colin Coulter (IAWM), O. Gladstone (SWP), and Mary Lou McDonald (Sinn Fein) deliver speeches on the war. There was a very lively discussion afterwards with a large number of people joining the IAWM at the end of the meeting. The IAWM in the Maynooth/Leixlip/Lucan area are intending to hold a number of other anti-war events in the coming weeks, keep your eye on this site and local press for more information. ... read full story / add a comment

Immediate popular reaction in Baghdad on Saturday to the loss of the U.S. space shuttle Columbia and its seven-member crew -- including the first Israeli in space -- was that it was God's retribution. "We are happy that it broke up," government employee Abdul Jabbar al-Quraishi said. "God wants to show that his might is greater than the Americans. They have encroached on our country. God is avenging us," he said. ... read full story / add a comment

Mary Ward, of Ard Comhairle, Republican Sinn Fein, today on Radio Free Eireann, New York, congratulated Mary Kelly on receiving the Mike Flannery Award last night in Queens. Ms Ward called on the Provisionals to relinquish the name Sinn Fein. She said that the Provisionals had entered into mangaging a system devised by Britain and the U.S. in pursuit of their geo-political goals. She said that the Adams faction was about to join the N.I. police, the poacher becoming the gatekeeper, to enforce British rule in Ireland. On the same programme John McDonagh, leader of the Continuity group that honoured Mary Kelly, said that the group would spearhead Irish-American opposition to the war against Iraq. Echoing James Connolly their banner will be "We serve neither Bush nor Mobil" Thus, those who represent the Continuity of Ireland's struggle in the U.S. will be in the forefront of the resistance to the war. ... read full story / add a comment
