First of all I want to repeat my sincere thanks for your invaluable work in publicising Indymedia in today’s Sunday Independent. Most other Irish media outlets take great pains to avoid mentioning the website despite the fact that it has fast become an invaluable resource for many journalists wanting to take the temperature of the new left in Ireland. You, single-handedly, have smashed down that particular wall of silence. Long may it continue. Oh and I nearly cracked up when I heard you repeat on Newstalk 106 the line from an Indymedia contributor about you not realising the danger to the brain of eating too many hamburgers. Mad Cowboy Disease indeed. ... read full story / add a comment

We've done two food-not-bombs so far, at RTS and on Buy Nothing Day. A couple of people have gotten to touch to find out if we'll be doing it again. I dont have much time to dedicate to it but with a steady group of people we could take it in turns running the stall and try to do it every week or two. If anyone doesn't know anything about the organisation check out www.foodnotbombs.org Basically the idea is to use food that would otherwise be wasted and to feed hungry and homeless people. If anyone wants to come along to an organising meeting send me an e-mail to [email protected] When we sort out a meeting time and place I'll post it here. ... read full story / add a comment

ALMOST 90 people attended the Irish Anti-War Movement Public Meeting in the Glenroyal Hotel Maynooth last Thursday night. The large attendance came to hear Emmet Stagg TD (Lab) Colin Coulter (IAWM), O. Gladstone (SWP), and Mary Lou McDonald (Sinn Fein) deliver speeches on the war. There was a very lively discussion afterwards with a large number of people joining the IAWM at the end of the meeting. The IAWM in the Maynooth/Leixlip/Lucan area are intending to hold a number of other anti-war events in the coming weeks, keep your eye on this site and local press for more information. ... read full story / add a comment |
