Answering a question today on Radio Free Eireann, New York, about the economic effects of her attack on the US war machine, housewife and mother of four, Mary Kelly, said that those who put economics before human life are a disgrace. She also answered critics of her action by saying that they needed to be educated about direct action. She exposed the Govt. lies and a sinister side of Irish life. She said it was unconstitutional to allow uniformed US military to use Shannon. She called for support for the Ploughshare 5, locked up and denied bail. Dan Berrigan has called Ms.Kelly's symbolic destruction of the US war machine an act of justice and compassion ... read full story / add a comment

This is a story about the repression experienced by the Basques, particularly by the spanish government. The only newspaper published in Basque, in the Basque Country, has been shut down by the Spanish government. They have been accused of terrorism. The Spanish government accuses any Basque entity which encourages the use of Basque language, or who speak out for Basque political rights, as being terrorist. It is not unusual---it happens everyday. This latest closing of the newspaper Egunkaria has just gone too far, though. ... read full story / add a comment

The Labour Party leader has said that Ahern's support for a second resolution before war against Iraq logically implies that Ahern should therefore state that any unilateral attack on Iraq by the US and its allies would be unjustified, immoral and illegal. So it is Rabbitte's position that if a majority coalition of the bought and the bribed at the U.N. supports the US, then the war is no longer unjustified. This makes morality a matter of how successful the U.S. is in bribing members of the security council. This is a bizarre position for a 'leader' of the Irish working class. ... read full story / add a comment
