The Blob has sunk to new depths in its quest to destroy educational freedom. No wonder, says Randall Hardy. It's only the right to withdraw children from the state system that restrains its worst indoctrinating tendencies.

CHANCES FOR DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ ARE SLIM AND NONE WASHINGTON -- The State Department has now confirmed in a deeply disturbing report what any of us with any experience in the Middle East instinctively and intellectually know -- that Iraq is the least likely country in the world to be "democratized." Not only are economic and social problems there so intense as to undermine basic stability in the region for years, the report says, but even if some form of democratic government took form, the spoils would go to fundamentalist Islamists deeply hostile to the United States. ... read full story / add a comment

The U.S. Army is probing allegations that another Fort Bragg soldier tried to kill his wife just after returning from Afghanistan. Carol Branch told United Press International that on Dec. 21, her husband, Sgt. Marvin Lee Branch, tried to strangle her after slamming her against the back door of the couple's house on Fort Bragg, seven days after he returned from six months in Afghanistan. Carol Branch said the attack, in front of her three young daughters and 69-year-old mother, was so violent that her 7-year-old daughter tried to defend her with a kitchen knife. "He came at me like a linebacker. He rushed in from the front door to the back door and my back hit the back door," Branch said in a telephone interview from Florida, where she and her three daughters are staying with a friend. ... read full story / add a comment

by Bradley Burston Fri, Mar 21 2003, 10:18am 'The war in Iraq is just the beginning,' Peres told Israel Channel One Television. Even if the Iraqi president is killed or captured, could the American people still be facing years of war, in Iraq or elsewhere? The issue was raised in Israel well before the assault began, prompted by remarks earlier this week by former prime minister Shimon Peres. "The war in Iraq is just the beginning," Peres told Israel Channel One Television. "Problems of the first magnitude can be expected therafter, as well: Iran, North Korea, and Libya. ... read full story / add a comment
