I got this appeal in an email because I am on a mailing list. I cannot go to Palestine myself since I would be denied entry. Although I am Palestinian, (born and lived there for the greater part of my life) the Israelis will not let me re-enter my hometown of Jerusalem/Al-Quds or any West Bank area for that matter. This is because they say I have failed to "renew" my ID card - just one of their many tricks for expelling as many Arabs as possible. So I thought I'd post this here in case anyone out there is interested in going to the occupied lands to offer some protection to the locals. As a European, the soldiers will generally not bother you. Thanks for reading. ... read full story / add a comment

"Drunkenness as a habit is one of the most degrading forms of vice which can result from the enfeeblement of the moral principle by persistent self-indulgence. Without perhaps appearing in public offensively drunk, the only remedy would seem to be the power of temporarily consigning them to an inebriate asylum."--Encylopedia Britannica, 9th Edition (1877). ... read full story / add a comment

I'm not joking. A obscure law called the No Electronic Theft (NET) Act that former U.S. President Bill Clinton signed in 1997 makes peer-to-peer (P2P) pirates liable for $250,000 in fines and subject to prison terms of up to three years. (You may want to read it, since you'll likely be hearing more about it soon.) ... read full story / add a comment
