Sally Maaz (17) died in Mayo University Hospital on April 24. Her cousin speaks out in this video. What has happened here is criminal and requires investigation although this is unlikely to be done in any honest way given the blatant lies and propaganda around this Covid crisis. On April 18th Clare Daly highlight the hypocritical actions of the government where they had imposed a severe lockdown everyone and closed many businesses because of their concern to stop the spread of Covid. Yet in the middle of all this they flew in hundreds of workers from Bulgaria to work for a company that has had very favourable treatment from Fine Gael. Her statement appeared on her facebook page and received many comments. The mainstream media is acting as a mouth organ for the WHO and the state. There is very little coverage that questions the whole narrative of the Covid-19 lock down and police state measures nor any question of why the country is committing economic suicide. The propaganda has been relentless and so effective and it appears few seem bothered that their jobs and livelihoods have been trashed. This story will contain links to what is happening elsewhere and the types of questions and answers that are appearing. The Irish health system is entering the Covid-19 crisis in a very poor position. Before the virus hit, it was already at breaking point. This is a result of chronic underfunding by successive governments stretching back decades and made worse in the last decade of austerity. Despite the spin from the government, the Irish state is actually one of the lowest spenders on healthcare in the OECD. An estimated 1.9 million people could contract the Covid-19 virus in the State. A feature of the infection for some is respiratory difficulties. It is estimated that 5%-10% will need more intensive treatment in hospitals and up to half of them will need access to ventilation equipment. The Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI) one of the few non right wing think tanks regularly produces interesting reports, research and other information. Information that is key to understanding what is happening in our society and how various socio economic factors are trending. In a recent "In Brief" four page report that they have done on work, they analysis the risk of poverty rates across the broad categories of employment in Ireland. One of it's key findings is that: deprivation rates are higher in 2017 than in the years leading up to the crisis, including for full-time, permanent staff. The analysis also shows that for all but one of the seven categories, Irish employees in 2017 were less likely to be able to meet an unexpected expense (of approximately €1,000) than before the financial crisis. ... read full story / add a comment |
