We should remember that BAFTA and other unions representing builders have been attempting to secure decent wages and conditions for people that labour in probably the most dangerous industry in the world. Prince Edward Island is on the East Coast of Canada and on the flight path to overseas from the USA, and a corporation here wants to have the US military stop to refuel, and possibly train. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, in a press statement today, said that the weekend attacks on Gaza which killed 14 Palestinians are a warning of the danger of increased Israeli attacks on Palestinian targets while the world's attention is in Iraq. The Campaign said that Ireland has a role to play. Rather than facilitating US preparations for a war on Iraq, we should be telling the US to exert itself for peace in Palestine.
