‘Horses without Carriages’
International Day is on 4th JUNE 2011
DUBLIN AWARENESS DAY WILL BE HELD AT THE TOP OF GRAFTON STREET ON FRIDAY 3RD JUNE from 1-2pm.
[this is across the road from the St Stephens Green hiring stand] .
Please come along for an hour on Friday 3rd June to the top of Grafton Street to distribute flyers on the horse Carriage issue and to collect signatures calling for an end to the use of horses.

Horses Without Carriages International is a coalition of many diverse organizations and individuals throughout the world with the common goal of exposing the injustice, cruelty, and inhumanity in the horse-drawn carriage industry. AFAR is part of this coalition.

‘We feel a horse should not be forced to work between the shafts of his carriage for many hours per day, with a metal bit in his mouth, a diaper tied to his rear, blinders blocking his view, ear plugs, and sometimes a muzzle.
We advocate for the right of these horses to live free according to their own terms and not to be enslaved.

The use of horse-drawn carriages for entertainment has already been banned in London, Oxford, Paris, Toronto, Beijing, and numerous smaller cities throughout the United States. It is our goal to expand on this list of cities that have banned the use of horse-drawn carriages for the tourist trade and cart horses.’
IN NEW YORK STATE SENATOR TONY AVELLA HAS JUST INTRODUCED A BILL TO BAN HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGES . no.S 17-326.1 CARRIAGE RIDES PROHIBITED. IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL TO OFFER RIDES TO THE PUBLIC ON A VEHICLE DRAWN OR PULLED BY A CARRIAGE HORSE IF THIS BILL BECOMES LAW IN NEW YORK.
Help us on Friday 3rd June please.
