Dublin - Event Notice Thursday January 01 1970 Sea Shepherd - Temple Bar, Dublin![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Information Point Sea Shepherd will have an information point in Temple Bar, Volunteer Fair. Sea Shepherd was established in 1977 by Captain Paul Watson as an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations. To do this we intervene in illegal activities across the oceans of the globe, we are an International anti poaching organisation. An example of one of our campaigns would be the direct intervention measures that we take against the Japanese Whaling Fleet, that has a self set annual quota of 1000 endangered and protected whales from the southern whale sanctuary. This is in violation of the Global moratorium on whaling, is in contradiction to the Antarctic Treaty and is in contempt of Australian court orders. The world has enough laws, treaty’s and rules needed to protect our oceans the real problem is the lack of will to enforce them, this is why this task falls to NGO’s like ourselves. Our mandate is the World Charter for Nature which enables States, Organisations, Groups and Individuals to act to preserve our oceans for future generations. We have a number of campaigns as can be seen from our web site www.seashepherd.org. |
