Justin Trudeau wants to prorogue Parliament to buy time before the election. Voters will punish him for it, says Prof James Allan, but it's a mistake he must be allowed to make without activist judges getting in the way.

Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

World Weekend for the Abolition of Meat: April 17 & 18, 2010!

category international | animal rights | event notice author Friday April 09, 2010 01:11author by nomoremeat Report this post to the editors

Please join activists worldwide for the World Weekend for the Abolition of Meat on April 17 & 18, 2010!

The 2nd edition of the World Day for the Abolition of Meat that took place on January 31, 2010 was a huge success!

Various events (including awareness actions, street performances, speeches and protests) were held in over 50 cities in the following countries: Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Switzerland and the USA.
Many thanks to all the animal rights groups and individuals that raised their voices for the cause of the oppressed animals and expressed the idea that our societies have to ban the killing of animals for food! It was really important for us to know that on the same day people in various places throughout the world were making the same political demand: we have to stop the mass murder of animals.

Following this huge success, we are now promoting another weekend of actions on behalf of the animals exploited and murdered for human consumption.

We believe it is high time to make a public demand for the abolition of meat by increasing the number of happenings both locally and internationally.

We are hoping for a larger number of activist events in more and more places as well as ever-growing determination, imagination and visibility.

Please join activists worldwide for the World Weekend for the Abolition of Meat on April 17 & 18, 2010!

Hi,

On Saturday 17th, for the "World Weekend for the Abolition of Meat", we will be doing a new form of vegan outreach, inspired by the success Donegal Veg Group had with it.

We will be hand-delivering a cover letter, along with vegan recipes, and vegan literature, to as many restaurants/cafes/pubs in Dublin that we can, in an attempt to make them list vegan options on their menus.

Obviously, most vegans like ourselves will always choose to eat in veggie/vegan restaurants over premises that serve meat. But, in unavoidable situations like dining out with non-vegan friends and family, it can be very difficult either finding anything suitable to eat, or explaining to bewildered chefs what you can/cannot eat.

If successful, we are hoping this will spread awareness on the issue and help make veganism more widespread, available and acknowledged in Dublin.

MEET AT: 12noon on Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2.

Hope you can help us out on the day,

National Animal Rights Association
